I don't hate Monday
I am thinking this is partially due to the fact that I only have one class from 8-10 am. It’s pretty great. After class, Sarah and I went to the University bar & grill, El Fogon. They have wireless internet there, so we were surfing the web and attempting to accomplish some homework. After that, I came back to the house for lunch. Then, this afternoon, I went with the American man, Julio, to look at the school where I am going to teach. Julio is a very neat man, who came down here to recruit ball players for the major leagues. He then would be there agent in the states. He has the phone service Vonage and can call the States for free. He said if I ever wanted to use the phone that I could. At the school, I met all the students and staff. I will have to post pictures of the school and children. The school is a building with two classrooms, very poor. The students are the CUTEST things in the world. Most are in second and third grade (I think). They just looked at me with their little bodies and big eyes and kept asking me what my name was, proceeded by excitement that I was their new teacher. I start the job on Thursday! I am going to teach on Monday’s and Thursday’s for one hour at 3 pm. The school is so poor that they have no books for English. They told me I could teach them whatever I want or even give homework. If I want anything besides the board for a lesson, I would have to make my own photocopies. INTENSE, but exciting to be able to make my own lesson plans! Let me know if anyone has any good ideas or fun games. After I left the school, I went and hung out with some friends; Fernando, Emmanuel, and Flor (short for something, I just met her today). Then I came home, ate dinner, showered, and here I am writing.
