Day #3...AGAIN

Okay, so another one for the day:) I will get those photos to everyone tomorrow most likely. I uploaded them onto my computer, but the connection at the house is too slow to email tonight. Anyways, UPDATE** , the holiday today is the day of the three kings. So when my host mom was talking about the celebration (celebracion y una fiesta) with her brother, I wrongly assumed that it was a party. It turns out that we were going to church (thank goodness i dressed up)! Her brother was there, but not quite the party I was expecting. I must say that I think church is better in Spanish. It's almost the same things, but maybe I feel like it's better because I'm learning and it's a challenge for me (since the only two things i knew how to do were ask for communion and the peace thing). After church we came back to the house and watched Herbie: Fully Loaded with Cruz's granddaughters. Of course, dubbed in spanish...who knew Lindsay Lohan spoke it fluently...haha. We had panini's for dinner. They were tasty. Also tonight, I met Pura. She is a middle-aged woman, and who would have thought...she speaks some ENGLISH!! Kinda cool, but I don't think she's around much. She said she works as a secretary somewhere where she needs to be bilingual, but she is Dominican.
After dinner, the little girls, Anette (9) and Melina (7) played cards all night. They taught me old maid in spanish and some other game that was kinda stupid. I think they call it Casino. Afterwards, they wanted me to teach them 2 games in english. We played Go Fish and Slap Jack. I translated the names and rules in spanish, which don't sound as good as they do in english. They loved the games so much, we played each one about 5 times. While we were playing cards, we watched the baseball game and saw Anette and Melina's dad, Kevin, on tv. I understood correctly, her son works for ESPN and he was doing the interviews with the players post game. The kids didn't go to the game, so they came here. I got to meet him when he came to pick the kids up. It was weird seeing someone on your tv and 15 minutes later he is at your house. By the way, the girls loved my bed spread also...everyone does!! Spanish children are incredibly well behaved. In church, every kid just payed attention...weird. I think everyone should send their kids down to the DR for manner school. haha. Cruz was telling me a story in the car on the way to church, and the little girl wanted to ask a question pertaining to the story. Instead of saying it, she waited for Cruz to pause, then apologized for interrupting and proceded to ask if she would ask a question. Pretty funny stuff.
That was my night...which was pretty exciting so I thought I would write about it. I need to go study for my exam tomorrow...or NOT. I think I will go with the not. I figure, if i have to study hard to get a higher score on my placement exam, then I probably shouldn't be placed there anyways. Right? Right. I'm tired, good night.
